CEF History & Mission

Since CEF was founded in 2003, we’ve provided a means for parents to invest in superior public education for their children.  Our fund fills the gaps left by the state’s budget cuts, which keeps our doors open, teachers employed and helps fund existing programs,. Our goal is to ensure our teachers are recognized and rewarded, and to keep our existing programs alive.

Our foundation offers tax advantages to our donors (parents, families, corporations) and it affords us significant tax exemptions. The Canyon Education Foundation is managed by a team of volunteer parent board members. CEF funds are raised by soliciting donations from Canyon School families in the Annual Family Donation efforts, Canyon residents, grants, and corporate donation matching, as well as annual major fundraisers organized with CATSS. The school hosts one fundraiser in the Fall and one in Spring.  This year, our Fall fundraiser will be the Winter Raffle, and in the Spring there will be a walk-a-thon.  Each of these events gives our students the opportunity to have a direct effect on our school’s fundraising.

The need, back in 2003 was just $20,000, and has grown into a $100,000-per-year commitment that maintains small class sizes, rigorous academics and a breadth of educational experiences from kindergarten through middle school.
